We took the news of an awful diagnosis within our Suntime family, and rallied to support a new cause.  On August 4th, 2014, Glen Parker Bayne, the grandson of our owner, and son of our Retail Manager, was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, just a month before his second birthday.CommunityOutreachStory_SuntimePoolsWest_St_GlenNowGlen endured 14 months of Chemotherapy, 23 Radiation treatments, and several surgeries, and was declared cancer –free on September 18th, 2015!

To show our support for little Glen during his courageous battle, 15 members of our staff and their family members shaved their heads for St Baldrick’s, raising $22,000 for childhood cancer research. Our team had cold heads last Spring as we started out the opening season in chilly temperatures!

Because kids with cancer often lose their hair during treatment, “shavees℠” for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation show their support by shaving their heads voluntarily, and inspiring friends and family to donate money to support childhood cancer research.

By shaving your head and raising money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation you can fund lifesaving research to help Glen and every child diagnosed with cancer.

What makes the St. Baldrick’s Foundation unique?

They do one thing and they do it well: fund childhood cancer research. The foundation takes great care of the funds raised by the generous volunteers and supporters to direct every possible dollar to carefully selected research grants. Whether it’s through the signature head-shaving events, partnerships or advocacy initiatives, the primary focus is to have the greatest impact for kids with cancer around the world.
